The special care and handling of sending your loved one’s cremated remains (ashes) to Memorials at Sea may be made through your funeral home or crematory. You may also do it yourself by following the step-by-step instructions we have provided below. If you need further assistance, please contact us and we will walk you through the process.
The only acceptable and most secure method to send cremated remains is via Priority Mail Express through the United States Postal Service. To ensure every precaution is taken to guarantee your loved one’s ashes are handled and received in a most respectful manner, please follow these easy steps...
Step 1 (Packaging) – Please keep the cremated remains in the plastic/cardboard container or urn in which you received them. Also, make sure the container is properly labeled with your loved one’s name. Place the urn in a suitable box for shipping. Place packing material (bubble wrap, foam, paper, etc.) in the box to reduce any shifting while in transit. In a separate envelope, to be placed inside the box, please include the following:
Seal the box with packaging tape by taping all seams (top, bottom and corners). Write your return address on the upper left corner of the package and address it to:
Memorials at Sea, LLC
240 S. Sunnyside Avenue, #1255
Sequim, Washington 98382-9998
Step 2 (Mailing) – Take your special package to any U.S. Post Office and identify that it contains cremated remains. The U.S. Post Office will label the package accordingly. Remember that Cremated remains may only be sent via Priority Mail Express.
Step 3 (Let Us Know) – Please e-mail us when you have mailed the cremated remains and provide the tracking number. Upon receipt of your loved ashes, Memorials at Sea will notify you.
Your loved one’s Sea Scattering will be performed within 30-days (weather permitting). We will email you when we have scattered the ashes at sea and a memorial certificate will be mailed to you within 10 business days.
Please Note – Memorials at Sea is not responsible for cremated remains which are received without prior arrangements and payment made. In situations such as this, the cremated remains will be returned to the sender’s return address.
Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
